About Emily

Originally from Gig Harbor, WA, Emily grew up participating in dance classes and local theatre for over 17 years. In 2018, she earned her B.A. in Theatre, with minors in Dance and Communications from Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. While at Whitworth, Emily often collaborated with the non-profit organization, Partners Through Art, to serve the Spokane community advocating for victims of social injustices. In 2018, Emily presented her original choreography work, “As Those We’ve Known,” for the American College Dance Association National Conference at CU Boulder. In the same year, Emily, in collaboration with two others, created and choreographed an immersive theatre and dance production titled “The Nyx Project” as her senior thesis. This project produced rave reviews across the city of Spokane, as it was the first production of its kind to reach the city. 
From 2018-2020, Emily worked as a dance teacher in San Jose, CA, and with Epic Immersive in San Francisco, CA, working to devise and produce immersive productions. In these years, she developed a passion for intertextual, site-specific, and immersive performance. In her time with Epic Immersive, Emily created two immersive shows, one titled You Consume Me (2019), and the other Blur (2019). A top consumer of immersive art across the country stated Emily’s production of Blur as one of his top productions of all time. 
In the 2020-2021 school year, Emily earned her M.A. in Contemporary Theatre, Dance, and Dramaturgy from Utrecht University. Her published Master’s thesis, titled “Dramaturgies of School Shootings: An Affectual Analysis of American Trauma in Performance,” explores the construction of theatre performances which discuss school shootings and the impact of such work on the spectator. Emily is currently living in Washington, DC, working at Bethesda Conservatory of Dance and continuing to pursue further creative opportunities.
